Five years ago online registration barely existed. If you wanted to register for
an event you were limited to faxing or mailing in your registration form, a time
consuming and mistake-prone process for all involved. Today, online registration
is still in its infancy. Many events still rely on fax or mail-in registrations,
or some form of quasi-online registration that harnesses few of the advantages
offered by the internet.
However, some companies and event planners are starting to reap the benefits of
full-service online registration. These services can essentially automate the
entire registration process from the event organizers to the registrants and
back again, making for a considerably more user-friendly and convenient
experience, as well as providing significant savings in cost and time.
The online registration provider consults with the event organizer as to what
information needs to be collected on the registration form. The form is then
created and made available on the internet. Registrants are sent a link to this
form and they simply fill out the required fields on the form and submit it.
They can also pay for the event using a secure and trusted connection. All of
this information is automatically organized and stored in an online database
that the organizer can then access and manipulate from anywhere, at anytime.
