Do You Check These 65 Details When Reviewing Your Online Forms?
In daily
life, I often dismiss writing a list because I say to myself, “how could I
forget?” But I do forget, and truth be told, I know that I’ll forget. And for
some reason, I go through this frustration even though I once trained as a pilot
and pilots go through some of the greatest checklist tedium imaginable.
There
were interior and exterior pre-flight checklists, checklists to go through
before starting the engine, while starting the engine, during taxi, during
engine run-up, before takeoff and it went on and on. Some of the checks seemed
very obvious; Doors and window closed and latched, Windshield clean, Seat belts
and harness fastened. Although I got faster at going through the lists, nothing
was ever skipped over because the consequences were too great.
The same
can be said for checking your online registration form. The form is designed to
look simple and be simple to use, but you may even be surprised at how many
details should be checked on the form. Unlike the pilot, you’re not risking
lives if you don’t go through every item on your checklist, but you could be
avoiding much anxiety if registrations start to come through at the member rate
instead of the non-member rate.
To

Form Design
Here, you’re simply doing an inspection of visual elements
such as overall appeal, logos and colour use. This is particularly important if
you want to create a consistent look with your website or other event material.
Think simple and user friendly when you’re reviewing the
form design. For example, the form shouldn’t be so cluttered with large logos
that you’re scrolling down before you see any registration details and colour
use shouldn’t reduce legibility.
Formatting
Now it’s going to
sound like we’re back in school! But the event planner is generally great at
noticing any small oversights in elements such as spacing, alignment, spelling
and punctuation.
In most circumstances, it’s possible for things to appear on the form just
as you want them so if you think that something should be moved slightly to the
left then make note of this.

It may suddenly sound like
you need to devote hours to reviewing your online form, but the checklist
greatly reduces the time spent verifying details and gives you the confidence
that nothing has been overlooked.
