Gain More Control Over Your Event Registration.
To ensure an event is memorable for all of the right reasons, event planners
must be in control of every detail and leave nothing to chance. Computers and
the internet can help event planners be more efficient, more accurate and more
in control, even when it comes to event registration.
There are numerous reasons to use online registration, but being more in control
is one that is often over looked. Some people even feel that they will lose
control with online registration, but in most cases the opposite is true. Here
are five points for you to consider before making up your mind about being in
control with online registration.
1. You can control the opening and closing of the registration form.
Now you see it, now you don’t. With the click of a mouse, registration can be
opened or closed. In fact, you don’t even have to click the mouse, you can
schedule a time for registration to open and close and then concentrate on
planning the event.
2. You can control the price and other details as planning progresses.
No more checking to see if someone qualifies for an early bird price because
when people register online the system can automatically charge the correct
price based on the time and date. Also, if something about your event changes,
like a dinner option, it is possible to change the form while registration is
under way.
3. You can control the number of registrations to the event or to a specific
activity at the event.
When you do registration by mail or fax and have a limited number of places in a
workshop or activity, you need to have people indicate a second or third
preference and try to please as many people as possible. Online registration
systems can automatically keep track of the number of people selecting a certain
workshop or activity and will alert the person registering if an option is full
so they can make an alternate selection.
4. You can control who registers by requiring an online payment.
No payment, no registration. With real time online credit card transactions,
event planners can require an approved transaction before the registration is
accepted. This means no more chasing after people whose card is declined or who
didn’t mail a cheque.
5. You can control who may access the registration database.
With most online registration systems you will access the online database with a
username and password. Since you have the password, you control who can access
the data. Often, you can set different levels of passwords so some people can
only access limited details.
Remember, online registration will also help keep costs under control, your
stress level under control and will give you time to control all of the other
aspects of your event.
