Event planners represent their event and their organization — to vendors, their audience, sponsors, etc. — so whether you’re a beginner or seasoned, in-house or agency, professional development should still be top of mind.

One thing that all event planners should have on hand is a quick bio. You never know when it’ll be needed! If you’re trying to figure out where to start, we’ve got you covered: check out this basic template to follow so you can knock out a professional biography in ten minutes or less.

[Full name] has worked in [industry] for going on [amount of years]. He / She is the [job title] of [company name], [explain what the company does], and has [include metric of how you’ve helped the company].

As part of [working for company name], [First name] has worked hard to [example 1] and [example 2]. He / She [resides in / is from] [location] [with family / and enjoys XYZ].

To see this template in action, check out this short (86 words!) professional biography for an event planner at our parent company, MemberClicks:

Lindsay Smith has worked in the technology and association space for going on 8 years now. She is the Director of Marketing, Events at MemberClicks, an all-in-one membership management software company, and has grown event registrations and leads generated from trade shows by 50% year-over-year.

As part of the leadership team at MemberClicks, Lindsay has worked hard to grow and develop a team of marketers and create a refreshing experience across all channels. She resides in Woodstock, Georgia with her husband Ryan and their three children.

As you can tell, it can be pretty quick! And there are lots of little things you can do to continue working on professional development, like keeping up with LinkedIn and networking with other event planners in your area.
